Battle of the Books

What is Battle of the Books?

Welcome to Battle of the Books—a thrilling book club exclusively designed for our fourth-grade students within District 102! Commencing the week following Thanksgiving Break, our program unfolds over 11 engaging weekly sessions held during lunchtime. During these gatherings, participants delve into the captivating Battle titles through discussions and practice battles, fostering a love for reading and friendly competition. While every student is encouraged to explore as many of the 15 titles as possible, our primary focus remains on enjoyment and camaraderie.

Prepare for an epic literary showdown—it's time to BATTLE!

We extend a warm invitation to parents to join the audience and witness their young Tigers in action at the Cossitt LRC. The battles are scheduled as follows: students in the "Tuesday" group compete on Monday, March 2, while those in the "Wednesday" group compete on Tuesday, March 3. (Ask your child which group they’re in if you don’t already know!) The top two teams from each day advance to the COSSITT BATTLE, set for Thursday, March 5. The victorious team from the Cossitt Battle earns the honor of representing our school in the District 102 Battle, facing off against formidable opponents from Congress Park, Forest Road, and Ogden.

**Make sure to remind your Tigers to wear their BATTLE SHIRT on their practice dates!**
