Art Appreciation
Art Appreciation is a great way to spend time in your child's classroom! We give you everything you'll need to bring an art lesson to life with hands on activities. You'll work with your child's teacher to schedule and present the lesson to the class. You can teach the lesson on your own or do it with a friend- it's up to you!
You don't have to be an art expert to volunteer. This is all about sharing an appreciation of art with the kids and helping them create their own masterpieces in the process.
WHAT TO DO:
1. Sign up in a volunteer slot
2. Contact your child's teacher to schedule the lesson at a convenient time.
3. About a week in advance, pick up and sign out the lesson folder in the PTC closet for the description of the lesson ahead of time so you can prepare. Check for materials in the closet to make sure there are enough for your use. [PLEASE NOTE: The PTC website links for Art Appreciation were removed when the new website was created- we are working to restore them as soon as possible.]
4. The day of the lesson, come back to the PTC closet for the materials you will need. Teach the lesson and enjoy!
5. Then please return the folder right after you teach the lesson for the next volunteer. If any materials are running low, please let us know.
We will also be holding a short informational meeting on Tuesday, October 1st at 7:30 in the Cossitt MPR to give any first-timers an overview of the program and show people where they can find materials.
If you can't make the meeting, no worries! Click this link to get more details about the process and where the supplies are located https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XcqqUq7VX3HJgO1cl3lXM8gy-YqHDmI2YpgMR6u7gt0/edit

In addition to managing volunteers, Chairs maintain the Art Appreciation supplies and keep materials replenished and in good shape. Time Commitment- Chair: MODERATE. 1 hour per week yearlong including summer closet clean-up. Co-Chair: LOW-MODERATE 35-40 hours totalDescription text goes here
